The Spoke TS2 aims to dynamically map a deeper countrywide knowledge of natural, climate and manmade threats on infrastructures, including events that are interdependent (i.e., one can cause the other) or can occur in close succession (cascading events); to define innovative solutions ensuring the business continuity of the exposed infrastructures; to set an evolved use of manifold monitoring systems, controlling both threats and exposed facilities, based on IT and AI protocols for early warning; to implement solutions for risk reduction, robustness increase, better emergency management, and faster recovery. A specific focus is required for old infrastructure networks and assets, which are now at an insufficient level of service due to aging, related to aggressive chemical-physical environmental actions. They require predictive maintenance programs supported by advanced experimental technologies for diagnostics of structural and functional vulnerability, theoretical/modelling approaches and new technologies for risk reduction.
